PU celebrates Int’l Day for Person with Disabilities


LAHORE: (Tuesday, December 03, 2013): Punjab University Department of Special Education in collaboration with Child Welfare Center organized a one day seminar to celebrate the “International Day of Persons with Disabilities” on Tuesday at Child Welfare Centre. Dean Faculty of Economics & Management Sciences Prof Dr Ehsan Malik, Dean Faculty of Education Prof Dr Mumtaz Akhtar, Incharge Department of Special Education Dr Humara Bano, Principal CWC Ayesha Wajiullah, Prof Dr Khalida Tareen, Prof Dr Khalid Jamil, special students, their parents and teachers attended the ceremony. This year the theme is: Break barriers; open doors; for an inclusive society for all”. Prof Dr Ehsan Malik highlighted the role of teachers as basic sources of services to humanity. He said that if the best teachers are there they can build any nation without focusing any physical, visual, hearing or mental limitation. He promised on behalf of Vice Chancellor that any request made by special students to him for their facilitation will be entertained

Prof Dr Mumtaz Akhtar highlighted the role of parents and efforts of teachers working for the education and rehabilitions of persons with disabilities. She congratulated the both departments for arranging such a good program for special persons to aware the teacher’s community, parents and society under the umbrella of varsity. Dr Humara Bano thanked the parents for upbringing such challenging students with extra abilities to turn them in to education. She also offers the departmental services for all teachers and departments to bridge the gap of instructions as per the needs of special students at any educational level. Ayesha Wajiullah, Prof Dr Khalida Tareen and Prof Dr Khalid Jamil also spoke on the occasion.
